ART ON THE PATHWAY

Art on the Pathway is a collaborative, temporary public art project led by artist Barbara Roche along the 3,212-foot, wheelchair-accessible Bigfork Pathway in rural northern Minnesota.

Through sculpture and site-responsive installations, the project explores the evolving relationship between human activity and the natural world.

CHANCE ENCOUNTERS

The first installation.

Chance Encounters brings together two complementary approaches: sculptures made from reconfigured industrial, agricultural, and logging materials, and land art that treats the woodland as an active sculptural medium.

Together, they invite visitors to slow down, look again, and discover unexpected relationships between human culture and the natural world.

ART, PLACE & COMMUNITY

Artists, students, and community members will help develop the project through fabrication, workshops, and collaborative installations.

Bigfork High School's Technology Department has agreed to assist with materials and fabrication, while the Edge Center for the Arts will support publicity and outreach.

The installations are planned as free public art experiences along the pathway.

BARBARA ROCHE

A RETURN TO MAKING

After decades of artistic practice, Barbara stepped away from her studio for ten years. Art on the Pathway marks her return to making art, bringing a lifetime of creative experience into a new, community-centered chapter in Bigfork.

Her work now explores how contemporary art can connect people, materials, and the landscapes they inhabit.
